Hi Everyone,

It sure was good to see so many of you out for the start of our Seniors’ & Women’s Preseason Training last Sunday.
It was another sunny and beautiful day to start us off.

Below is a lot of information to digest – Training sessions, Registrations, Uniforms, FB and a whole lot more.
Don’t forget to get you name on a team list so you don’t miss out!

PRE-SEASON TRAINING INFO
This coming Sunday is Father’s Day and all Dodger’s will be taking the day off!

So, our Juniors will start their Preseason on Saturday, 4 September on the top diamond.
This is a ‘once off’ to avoid training on Sunday’s Special day with Dad.

With the Juniors starting this Saturday, it will give us the six weeks needed prior to our first Junior games on Sunday, 10 October 2021.
Sessions are listed below.

U11s (ML) – from 9am to 10am
U13s (LL) – from 10:30am to 12Noon
U14/15s (IL/JL) from 12Noon to 1:30pm
U17s (SL) – from 1:30pm to 3pm

Our Div 1,2 &3 squad will also train on Saturday from 10am using the Main diamond.
With so many players involved looking for spot on the roster, DR said that they will have to work hard to earn it!
He says the season is looking good!

The Bar and Canteen will be opened during these times!

TRAIN HARD, MAKE YOUR COACH PROUD 😊

CLUB ‘FACE BOOK’ PAGE
To communicate with our members, we have a Face Book group page where
we keep members up to date with timely news and information about the club.

All up to the minute news is posted there for your convenience such as
weather conditions, game change or other issues.

If you are not a FB group member already, please ask to join:
‘GGCD Dodgers Members Group’

This season’s actual fees are posted there and you can also ask Sharee
questions on this platform if you are having issues with the registration process or unform issues.

Some of our teams have their own FB page too.
We also have a group T-Ball page too: Dodger’s T-Ball
T-Ball info for this season is found there. We start up 18 October with a Come n Try session.

ARMCHAIR UMPIRE: YOU MAKE THE CALL
The runner on first base takes off for second on the pitch.
The batter swings at the pitch and misses…and the pitch hits him.

USING A ‘SPORTS VOUCHER’?

Sports Vouchers are available for the remainder of 2021, the current eligibility will continue to be for Primary School aged children from Reception to Year 7 (even if Year 7 is based at a high school).

For 2021, this means that children that have their ‘year of birth’ from 2008 to 2016 are eligible. These Vouchers are presented within the registering process.

If your child fits this age group, when you register, you will need to answer the questions to ‘Sports Vouchers’ and ensure you lodge the 10-digit Medicare card number plus the number beside the child’s name in the Medicare number field.

You will first need to pay the full fees for the season. Then, as soon as we receive your request -and get confirmation from ‘Sports Vouchers’ of your eligibility- we will then, refund $100 to your bank details supplied in the Registration process.

UNIFORMs
All Club merchandise and playing tops are now ordered online through our new supplier. Please use this link dodgers.orders.net.au/ to check out the range, all orders are sent direct to you.

MERCHANDISE orders should be delivered within 7-14 days.
PLAYING TOPS must be ordered asap.

Helena will be at the club this Sat 4th Sept between 10am to 12noon for any queries. If you cannot make that time, please reach out to her if you want to tag her in your comment – her profile is Stick Man.

If you are new to the club or changing teams, you must speak with Helena about what number you can use to ensure your number is not in use already by another in your team.

Please see her at the Club or private message her and she will respond out of business hours to you.

Playing Tops: They do have a closing date which is still being discussed with the supplier. The closing date will be communicated as soon as we have it, but if you need one, you need to get your order in. These are not available all year round like the Merchandise.

Playing tops have a delivery time of 4-6 weeks which is why they are needed to be ordered asap.

HATS are not on the link as yet but will be soon – hopefully before Saturday. If you are wanting a hat, please wait till they are listed before you finalise your order to avoid two delivery fees.

REMEMBER TO COMMUNICATE OUT THERE!

SCORING CLINICS – Every team needs a scorer!

This clinic will be for Beginner Scorers, but anyone is welcome if they want a refresher. Feedback comments are always appreciated.

Please bring along a note pad, pencil and rubber 😊 She will ask for your email addy as well. See you there!

CLUB SPONSORSHIPS NEEDED – HEADS UP!
Sponsorship is a very important part of our Club’s viability to help sustain our Club –
especially early in our season when we don’t have much of a cash flow for starting up expenses.

It’s an investment in our future and the community!
Our club depends on sponsorship – especially at this time of the year.

It’s up to ALL Club members to help locate companies or individuals willing to support our community’s sport.

Our sponsorship packages are below.
(We have held the cost of the Packages at the same values as previous years due the hardships caused by COVID.)

It’s your Club! – Keep it strong!
Contact me (Bob) or our Chair, Shaun, if you have a lead or need further information.

GGCD ‘UMPIRE COORDINATOR’ WANTED
This season, the League has asked each Club to appoint an Umpire Coordinator.

Because all Senior teams play on Saturdays, most BUASA (League) Umpires will be assigned to the upper grades leaving the
lower State League Divisions, Women’s League and Junior Competition games to be done by Club Umpires.
Hence this request.

The League is also asking that all Club Umpires be accredited as well as the Umpire Coordinator.
(This new GGCD position could be a shared position)

If you are interested in volunteering to umpire at our Club this season then, this is for you…

Use the link to the BSA website below, register yourself and receive an email with a link which will take
you to the brand new online umpire information and training material.

<www.baseballsa.com.au/programs/umpire-development/?fbclid=IwAR38HTbsiSsrnlbgJmL4FVFp1uefZfTv_rcUv35WfAItQV6ui04apJ8ryu0> www.baseballsa.com.au/programs/umpire-development/

Please give it some thought to umpire our Club games and get accredited.
Thank you.

NEW BATTING HELMET UNITS REQUIRED
In each of our Home dugouts, we have ‘pigeon hole type shelving’ to place 12 x players Batting Helmets.
Over the past years, the weather has taken their toll and they need to be replaced.

Our Director of Equipment, House & Grounds, Gavin Payne, is asking for a volunteer to build the two replacements.
Please let him know if you know someone who may want to help us out. Thanks.

HOME RUN DERBY PLANNED
We are looking to hold our Annual Home Run Derby this month.
The Board is looking at some available dates as our Div 1 squad is involved with a few possible, Exhibition Games.
Once they are confirmed, we can move ahead with a date.

So, get your walk out music and pitcher ready!
Stay tuned for a fun day!

ARMCHAIR UMPIRE: DID YOU MAKE THE RIGHT CALL?
Ruling: The ball is dead.
A Strike is called on the batter and the runner is returned to first base.

PRESEASON TRAINING FOR ALL…

We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Stay safe and be sure to ‘Check In’.

Cheers,
Bob
