Hi Everyone,

Welcome to our first pre-season newsletter and to our NEW members.

This season, we will have an abundance of new players from other clubs in our lower divisions. Welcome to our club.

While I do not have all their email addys as yet, please spread the word so I can include them in this group listing.

Sunday, 13 September 12Noon until 1:30pm

(If you are available to assist Helena on the day, I’m sure she will appreciate your help.)

CLUB UMPIRE ACCREDITATION

This season, the Baseball League has asked each club to have at least 10 x accredited club umpires.

They have provided a program for us be accredited – and at our grounds. It’s called the ‘Green Shirt Community Umpire Accreditation’.

If we have a minimum of 15 candidates, they will come to us rather than to drive down to West Beach for the practical.

We have invited other clubs from the Northern area to join us to make up the numbers. BUASA will conduct the practical session.

So, we will be hosting this Umpire Clinic at our club grounds on Saturday, 12 September from 2pm.

With few and far between League umpires this season, we will need more players to come forward to umpire our club’s home games.

To complete this course, please go to the BSA website to register and complete the on-line quiz found there. Then, complete the two hour practical at our club – or West Beach.

If you have any questions, please let me know. You will not be assigned any games only those you may want to umpire when you’re available.

If we don’t have enough accredited club umpires when needed, we may have to forfeit the game. So, please consider.

REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

Please register as soon as possible as we have to nominate our teams to the league by the middle of September.

Not much time. Don’t miss out as numbers may be limited.

Go to BSA Website – www.baseballsa.com.au and scroll down to find REGISTER NOW button.

Find Dodgers and click on REGISTER. That simple.

OUR NEW BOARD

Our AGM last month was well attended and all nominated incumbent Directors are still on the Board, but with one exception.

Our Director of Equipment, House and Grounds, Roger Prime, has since stepped down, recently, due to health issues.

We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him around the club again.

Gavin Payne has taken on Roger’s role with Gary Martin looking after the equipment and Gavin, the grounds.

If you want to get involved with Gavin’s grounds crew, please let him know – he’s out there about every day.

In Gavin’s former role as Director of Sponsorship and Grants, Live Trembath has stepped up to the plate taking on this role.

We wish them both well with their new portfolios.
